The perfect operator will have a strong understanding of both food and wet-led trading, with a real focus on quality, consistency and excellent customer service. They will be visible within the business, build relationships with the local community and create an atmosphere that encourages customers to return regularly.

I would want someone commercially minded who can identify opportunities to grow sales across the week, develop a strong food offer and make the most of Barnard Castle’s year-round visitor trade.

Above all, I am looking for someone with energy, personality and pride in their pub – an operator who will take ownership of the business, lead their team from the front and establish the Raby Arms as a go-to venue for both locals and visitors.

We’re looking for commercially minded people with a proven track record in running successful, high-volume food and wet-led pubs, ideally with experience managing businesses achieving £20,000+ net takings per week.

Our operator opportunities offer the chance to take ownership of an established, high-turnover pub, leading a strong team, maintaining high standards and driving the commercial performance of the business. We’re looking for operators who have the ambition to grow sales, deliver exceptional customer experiences and maximise their own earning potential.

You’ll need to be confident managing all aspects of a busy pub operation, including people, labour, margins, food and drinks, while having the drive and entrepreneurial approach to treat the business as your own.
